Common ivy, or climbing ivy (lat.Hedéra hélix), is an evergreen climbing shrub. Sometimes the plant reaches 30 m in length. It grows in deciduous forests, mainly in oak, less often in beech, in lowlands and foothills. Distributed throughout Western, Central and Southern Europe, as well as in South-Western Asia. In Russia, it is found in the Kaliningrad region, in the Krasnodar Territory, including on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus and on the Crimean Peninsula.
